My Weekly Tasks as an Artist for 2025

Making art is my full time job, which sounds simple enough, but “make art” is one of those nebulous things that is easier said than done. Simply showing up at the easel is an extremely hard thing to do that can often fall away from your list of life priorities, and I’ve found it necessary to commit ink to paper (or type to screen) in order to cobble together a recipe that will generate predictable success over time. These tasks are the essential framework. Art is not a 9–5 job, but realistically there are goals that need to be reached if you are to be successful. I’ve come up with this list of 8 tasks that can be tackled over the course of a week that all work together that create an integrated workflow. All of these tasks support one another and none should be skipped. If art is to be your full-time gig, then these are your job duties. Luckily, you aren’t bound to an office or to someone else’s schedule. Your life may allow for more or less time to dedicate to your art career, but I have compiled these tasks to function as a full time job.
